Moving from tawk.to to AChat
A free live chat for websites, where paying removes the branding. Choose tawk.to if your team answers customers and you want a help centre and ticketing with it. Choose AChat if visitors should talk to each other in a room, not wait for a support team.

How to move across
- Decide whether AChat's widget fits. It shows an anonymous room or an open community channel, so visitors talk to each other. It doesn't replace tawk.to if an agent has to answer each visitor.
- Build it on the widget page, then paste the code into your page (embeddable widget).
- List the websites allowed to show it. Until you add one, any website can.
- Add a password if the room shouldn't be readable by everyone on the page.
How they differ
| Feature | AChat | tawk.to |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan with no end date | Yes | Yes (their page) |
| Ready-made chat to add to a page | Yes | Yes (their page) |
| Run it on your own servers | No | Not stated on the pages we checked |
The AChat widget shows an anonymous room or an open community channel. It isn't an agent inbox or a developer SDK, and anyone on the page can read the room unless it has a password.
What they charge
| Plan | Price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Live chat | Free | their page |
| Remove branding | $29 a month | their page |
AChat's plans are on the pricing page.
